Link Between H. pylori Eradication & GERD

Results from a retrospective study have implicated Helicobacter pylori eradication as a causal factor in the development of GERD in some patients. However findings of prospective studies have failed to demonstrate this association conclusively. In fact a logistic regression analysis showed no significant association between GERD outcome and H. pylori eradication and age, gender, alcohol, or caffeine intake, or H. pylori genotypes (cag A, cagE, or vacA).

Sep 21, 2001 update

Recent Japanese studies show beyond any doubt that H. Pylori is associated with gastric malignancies. Confirming that “ The only good H. pylori is a dead H. pylori”.
